So I totally bypassed 2012 and pretty much 2013 on the blogging front.
A lot of things have happened and changed in the last couple of years, and at the moment I have been left with time, actual TIME, to work on my creative talents. What does this mean? It means you will be seeing a lot more of me and my craziness!
What will you see?
My main focus/passions in life are textiles, art and design. I have completed my bachelors of visual arts with a major in textiles, am currently working towards my diploma of graphic design and love to create and explore in different mediums. I also work with children outside school hours, so chances are there will be a mix of kids crafts, design projects and various textile methods.
I decided on the first of December to do a “25 days of Christmas countdown” which I started on Facebook, so I will take the time to catch it up on here as well. It won’t necessarily be me creating something new everyday. I will share pictures as I decorate the house, put up the Christmas tree, crafts I’ve organized for the children, inspiring Christmas things I see out and about. Its an exciting time of the year, and I want to share the joy with everyone 🙂
So hello! I look forward to sharing my journey with you!
Yep, its that time of year again, when we say farwell to one and a big hello to the next! And what comes with a new year? New year resolutions of course!
So with my main resolution being all about using my creativity more, stash busting and all things handmade, I thought it was about time I revived my blog, or at least tried!
So goodbye 2011! Let 2012 be the year of creative greatness!
Yes, it’s that time of year when… there’s not much happening in the world of Cate, and I have resorted to organising my materials all nice and pretty amongst time spent sewing. Today it was my threads…
Oh, don’t get me wrong, they won’t stay that way for long! I have already started scratching through them looking for colours! But for the moment at least, there is not big tangles!
I have been in sewing mode as of late, you just can’t get me away from my machine!
Yesterday I finished this owl quilt…
It started out with piecing the pink 4inch squares. It looked a little plain, so I decided to applique some owls onto it. It took me a while to decide what look I was going for with the owls, these ones turned out just perfect, they’re cute, and little and babyish!
I machine pieced the pink, needle point hand sewed the owls and machine quilted the whole thing. It was the first time I had used the walking foot on the Bernina, and it worked quite fine!
And a close up of the owls, so you can see their cute little expressions…
I sent it off with the boy today, to be gifted to a very new little girl. Hope they like it…
